Author: Erica McCary, owner of Goodlight Creative
In part one of this series, I explained my background and why I am growing a design agency in Greeley, Colorado. In this post, I’ll explain what efforts I am taking in hopes that it can help others.
This blog post is part of a series called Growing in Greeley. You can find the first post here.
I have realized that building a strong network is crucial for my business. Upon tracking how my leads have found me, I noticed that most of them have come through my past clients and colleagues. So, I decided to immerse myself in Greeley's business community to expand my local network. Here’s what I did:
1 - Join business groups
My first step was becoming a member of the Greeley Chamber of Commerce. This group connected me with a wealth of resources and opportunities, allowing me to tap into the collective knowledge and support of fellow entrepreneurs and business leaders in the area.
Through the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, I joined a local Leads Group and the Northern Colorado Young Professionals group. This platform serves as a channel for advertising Goodlight and facilitates meaningful interactions with other businesses in the community, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships. It's not who you know, but who they know.
2 - Get out of the home office
Next, I moved out of the home office and set up shop in The Ambry, a local office space in downtown Greeley. Simply being present in this inspiring environment has opened doors to countless networking opportunities and collaborations.
3 - Increase online visibility
In the world of online, I took proactive steps to enhance Goodlight Creative's digital presence. By incorporating SEO strategies into our website, we've successfully secured a coveted spot on the first page of Google's search results, amplifying our visibility and attracting organic traffic. Read about it here.
I've also ramped up our presence on social media platforms, with a particular focus on LinkedIn and Instagram. By sharing engaging content, fostering meaningful connections, and showcasing our expertise, we've been able to broaden our reach and deepen engagement with potential clients and collaborators.
With these efforts, Goodlight Creative has already secured three new local clients since the start of 2024. I believe this is just the beginning of our design work in Greeley, and I'm excited to continue leveraging these initiatives to drive sustainable growth and make a lasting impact on businesses in Greeley, Eaton, Kersey, and northern Colorado.
